Dr. Tara Goecks to join the GRMC Specialty Clinic
Dr. Tara Goecks, Opthalmologist, will be joining the growing list of providers at the GRMC Specialty Clinic.
Dr. Tara Goecks graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with honors, after which she served as a community health volunteer with the Peace Corps in Burkina Faso, West Africa. This inspired her, in large part, to pursue a career in medicine. She obtained her medical degree at the University of Vermont School of Medicine and completed her residency in ophthalmology at the Medical University of South Carolina Storm Eye Institute. She was selected amongst top candidates in her field to complete a highly coveted fellowship in Oculoplastic Surgery with Drs. Ralph Wesley and James C. Fleming, both prior presidents of the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (ASOPRS), at Vanderbilt and the University of Tennessee, Memphis. This fellowship program is recognized as one of the most prestigious in the country, providing extensive training in orbital disease, facial trauma, tear drainage surgery and cosmetic surgery. Having passed the written and oral board examinations and submitting a scientific thesis, Dr. Goecks was awarded membership into the American Society of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery at the Spring Meeting in 2019.
Great passions of Dr. Goecks’ are travel and international outreach. She has performed facial reconstructive surgeries and trained physicians in oculoplastic surgery in Panama and Ethiopia. She hopes to continue to provide surgical training and care to underserved areas globally and locally. Additionally, she strives to be outdoors as much as possible and enjoys skiing, hiking, and travel.
“We are very excited and proud to welcome Dr. Goecks as we know her surgical skill and expertise in oculoplastics will only improve our services available to the community through our Specialty Clinic,” stated Amie Powell, Clinic Administrator for GHFC and the Specialty Clinic.
Dr. Goecks first day in the specialty clinic will be on October 14, 2020. Please call the GRMC Specialty Clinic at (785) 890-3625 with any questions or to schedule your appointment. Thank you.
